The campaign <\/span>Dona Vida al Planeta’ campaign<\/span><\/a><\/span> was launched yesterday in Almeria with the purpose of raising awareness among the Andalusian population about the importance of recycling and reuse of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) until December 20. In its fourth edition, the campaign expands to 381 municipalities throughout Andalusia, including localities that have signed the Framework Agreement on WEEE recycling with more than 4,000 inhabitants, which covers 91.5% of the Andalusian population, reaching a total of 7.6 million people.<\/span><\/p>\n

The initiative, promoted by <\/span>WEEE Andalusia<\/span><\/a><\/span>with the support of the Regional Ministry of Sustainability, Environment and Blue Economy of the <\/span>Board of Andalusia<\/span><\/a><\/span> and the Andalusian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (<\/span>FAMP<\/span><\/a><\/span>), is supported by <\/span>ECOTIC<\/span><\/a><\/span> together with the Extended Producer Responsibility Collective Systems (EPRCS) operating in the region. <\/span>#DonaVidaAlPlaneta<\/span><\/a><\/span> focuses on the collection of WEEE, awareness of reuse and proper management of this waste.<\/span><\/p>\n

The campaign will be carried out on the streets, with actions in most municipalities, as well as in more than 400 retail stores. There will also be 16 activities in commercial centers and visits to public universities in each province. In total, more than 740 street marketing actions are planned to promote the correct management of this waste and highlight its environmental, social and economic benefits.<\/span><\/p>\n

It will be complemented by an intensive local and regional media strategy, using outdoor, print, online, radio and television advertising. The campaign will be promoted through provincial waves via social networks and digital media, and will focus on consumer rights in relation to WEEE recycling.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the street marketing actions and the local and regional media strategy mentioned above, the campaign will also focus on educating the population about consumer rights in relation to WEEE recycling.<\/span><\/p>\n

These rights include the possibility of depositing WEEE not exceeding 25 centimeters in size in retail stores larger than 400 square meters. In addition, after purchasing an electrical and electronic device (EEE), distributors must accept free of charge a WEEE equivalent to the EEE sold, regardless of whether the purchase is made in the store or at the user’s home. This encourages a more accessible and convenient recycling process for consumers.<\/span><\/p>\n

The campaign will also run at key times when there is an increase in consumption, such as ‘Black Friday’, ‘Cyber Monday’ and the Christmas holidays, to remind people of the importance of recycling and reuse in the midst of massive shopping seasons.<\/span><\/p>\n
